Frankie Zombie

Cotton’s Blue Jeans Go Green program presents Real Denim Stories
Creativity begins within.

Born in NYC and raised in South Carolina, Frankie Zombie is a lifelong artist. His mediums are many: interiors, murals, automotives, fashion. His talent has led him to work with cultural icons including Pharrell, Miley Cyrus, and Celine Dion, as well as networks like TNT, HBO, BET, and the NBA. He has a tireless work ethic, which is how he earned the moniker “Zombie,” yet unlike a zombie, he’s full of life and heart. His colorful style and visionary art begin within, as he finds forms of expression wherever he goes.

Denim is woven into the fabric of Frankie’s daily life. “If I’m not in shorts, I’m in denim,” he says. As a messy painter, his jeans often become an unintentional palette, capturing splatters and streaks of color that tell the story of his creative process. Two of his favorite styles are boot cut and flare denim. These days, he’s unafraid to wear what he wants, and he has fun with it.

Frankie draws inspiration from fashion icons like A$AP Rocky and Pharrell, who champion individuality and self-expression. Growing up, he found comfort in their fearless approach to mixing patterns, texture, and colors to create unexpected and bold, contemporary looks.

Frankie believes authenticity is incredibly important, and that everyone can have the confidence to be themselves no matter their surroundings. “Being authentic and real has legitimately saved my life.” He hopes that by being true to who he is, he can inspire others to do the same. Once he realized the power to take back his own confidence, he said there was no turning back.

For Frankie, denim is more than a fabric—it’s a diary. A canvas for raw emotion, personal reflection, and social commentary. This “Diary Style” art form emerged as Frankie went through a challenging time, transforming his sketches into powerful words that explored the depths of his experiences.

One such piece, a pair of hand-painted jeans, became his lucky charm during a pivotal moment in 2018. Wearing those jeans at Art Basel, he boldly approached Pharrell Williams and gifted him a pair of custom-designed shoes. The encounter sparked a wave of new opportunities for Frankie, propelling him into the world of luxury car customization.

Frankie’s diary style is not just a personal catharsis; it’s a call to action. He encourages men to embrace vulnerability and express their feelings, breaking down societal barriers and promoting emotional well-being. His denim becomes a symbol of empowerment, reminding us that our stories matter and that our voices have the power to create change.

New denim is like a new relationship.

Frankie sees the potential for new life in every worn and faded piece of denim, whether it’s transforming them into a work of art or recycling them through the Blue Jeans Go Green program. “I’d rather reinvent and repurpose worn denim than buy something new that won’t last. It’s nonsense to throw away denim.”

For Frankie, every new piece of denim represents a new relationship, a fresh start, a chance to add another chapter to his ongoing story of self-expression.

Frankie’s message to the world is simple yet powerful: “Be curious, create, inspire.” He believes in the transformative power of denim, not just as a fashion statement, but as a symbol of resilience, creativity, and a commitment to a more sustainable future.
